Material and construction requirements

  • OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Baby labels should use materials certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100. Peach Labels woven labels are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and suitable for baby and children's garments.
  • No exposed cut edges. Any exposed cut edge will scratch baby skin repeatedly. Use flat sew-in labels stitched through all four edges, or center-fold where the fold is the only edge contacting skin.
  • Damask construction is non-negotiable. Standard satin weave has a coarser surface texture. Damask uses a finer thread count and produces a significantly softer back face — critical against sensitive skin.
  • Care label compliance. Baby garments need fiber content, wash temperature, and care symbols. A separate flat sew-in care label at the left side seam keeps this compliant without overloading the neck brand label.

Sizing for baby garments

  • Smaller is better. Baby seam allowances are narrow. A neck label wider than 30 mm creates bulk visible from the exterior. Ideal size: 20–30 mm wide, 15–20 mm tall after folding.
  • Keep artwork simple. At small label sizes, fine detail and thin type become difficult to weave. A logo or brand name in 2–3 colors reads much more cleanly than a complex design. See our artwork guidelines.
  • Split brand and care information. A 20–25 mm brand label at the neck is comfortable. A combined brand + care label at 45 mm is not. Separate labels are the professional standard for baby clothing.
  • Size labels for baby ranges. Infant sizing runs 0–3M, 3–6M, 6–12M, 12–18M, and 18–24M. Order size labels separately per size, keeping the brand label consistent across the range.

For handmade and small-batch baby clothing

Small batch ordering

Independent makers producing handmade baby clothing — rompers, sleep sacks, knit booties — can order professional labels without high MOQs. 50 labels is the minimum; order exactly what your current production needs.

Marketplace compliance

Selling on Etsy or similar platforms increasingly requires visible care and fiber content labeling. A flat sew-in label satisfies this requirement while reinforcing your brand identity on every piece.

Consistent across your range

Keep the brand label identical across all collections and vary only the size label. This simplifies reordering and maintains a coherent brand presence across your entire baby clothing catalog.

Sample pack first

Before ordering baby labels for the first time, request a sample pack. Feeling the actual label construction against your own wrist is the fastest way to confirm it will be comfortable against baby skin.

FAQ

Baby labels, answered

Yes, when the right construction is used. Damask woven labels with flat sew-in or center-fold placement present no hard edges or loose threads against baby skin. The polyester thread is chemically inert and does not cause skin reactions.
The center back neck seam is the standard position for the brand label. The left side seam is preferred for a care label. Avoid placing labels at the center front or on the interior chest panel, which is uncomfortable when the baby lies on their front.
The practical minimum for readable text or a recognizable logo is approximately 15 mm × 15 mm, depending on artwork complexity. Fine detail and thin strokes will not resolve well below 20 mm, so simpler designs are needed at the smallest sizes.
Yes. The most efficient approach is to order the brand label as a single design in the total quantity needed, then order size labels separately in the quantities needed per age range. Combined brand + size labels per variant are also possible.
